FORCONSULT is a consultancy unit of the Faculty of Forestry and Nature Conservation established in 1993. The unit has over 70 consultants with substantial experience, skills and knowledge in these fields and beyond, of which about 50% are PhD holders. We also have access to the diversed skilled consultants across the University who have continued to execute different assignment for the unit for many year.

In an advisory capacity, our work is equally diverse and incorporates forestry and land use change, Wildlife management, sustainable development, strategic policy and project management, resource management, carbon management as well as environment and ecosystems’ management.

What we do
We offer advisory services and tailored training in the area of Forest Biology, Forest Economics, Forest Engineering, Forest Mensuration and Management, Wood Utilization and Wildlife Management/ Conservation, Environment, Agriculture and Fisheries to mention a few. Forconsult draws her consultants from a pool of well trained and committed professionals  in the Faculty of Forestry and Nature Conservation but also from other research and academic units of the University and beyond where necessary. Currently there are about 70 consultants of which more that 50% hold PhDs in different areas as mentioned above.

Who we are
FORCONSULT is a consultancy unit of the Faculty of Forestry & Nature Conservation at Sokoine University of Agriculture. It became operational on 4th November 1993 when the 64th University Senate approved the proposal of its establishment.

FORCONSULT has the following objectives;
To facilitate efficient utilization of the locally available high level manpower by allocating consultancies .to competent and qualified individuals and groups (teams).
To facilitate handling of large-scale and multidisciplinary consultancies through coordination of the wide-range forestry, beekeeping and wildlife management/conservation expertise in the Faculty.
To enhance cost-effectiveness and improve efficiency while implementing projects by using .the local experts, who have an additional advantage of possessing local experience.
To rationalize/optimize utilization of equipment and facilities available in the Faculty.
To improve financial earnings to staff and the Faculty as a whole.
